About Vans

Founded in 1966 by Paul Van Doren in Anaheim as the Van Doren Rubber Company: a factory with a shop out front, where you ordered your shoes in the morning and picked them up in the afternoon. The waffle sole wasn't designed for skating but stuck to the board better than anything else – the skaters took the shoe, not the other way round. "Off The Wall" came in 1976, the Sk8-Hi in 1978, then still called "Style 38".

Skate shoes (Old Skool, Slip-On, Rowan) and the LX line.
