Shoe Goo was developed in 1972 by shoe repairman Harry Howland; in 1977 he founded Eclectic Products with Bob Smith, which still makes the adhesive today. It was meant for patching worn-out tennis shoes. In skateboarding it holds the ollie zone together long after the suede has gone – a shoe with a crust of Goo isn't a stopgap, it's the normal state.
