Adi Dassler started out in 1924 with his brother Rudolf in their mother's laundry room; since 1949 the company has run under the name adidas out of Herzogenaurach, Germany. Skateboarding has been its own division since the late 90s. It digs through the company's sports archive and rebuilds football and indoor shoes for the board – reinforced suede stitching, different soles, more cushioning. The Samba, Gazelle and Superstar are all older than the skateboarding that rides them today.
