Bones sits under George Powell's company in Santa Barbara – half of Powell Peralta, which he founded with Stacy Peralta in 1978. Powell is an engineer and mixed his first urethane himself; the name comes from the bone-white colour of the early wheels. When Peralta left in 1991, Powell carried on the hardware side – Bones Wheels and Bones Bearings. The wheels have been part of the picture since the Bones Brigade.
